Our tree planting service is carried out with the structural diversification of forests and with planting native seedlings. Our goal is to create climate-resilient forests. Such forests consists of several different species with a high structural complexity.
Currently, there are non-native scots pine on the area planted at the end of the 1960s. Later the invasive acacia trees invaded the area in patches. Due to the adverse effects of climate change, the health status of both tree species has significantly deteriorated, and the forest has even become fire-prone. The current forest plan allows for the felling of 60-year-old pines and 30-year-old acacias.
However, by avoiding the clear-cutting of these trees, the gradual replacement of the pine and acacia trees with native trees is applied. We evaluated the health of each tree individually and only removed the sick ones. In their place, we planted a variety of native, climate resilient seedlings. This mixed tree species forest can be maintained for 90-110 years.
We take care of the planted seedlings in the first years, replace them if necessary, and protect against wild damage. After that, the necessary forestry interventions must be carried out every 10 years, e.g. invasive species must be removed.
